Try Cooking Light's Healthy Habits

Are you familiar with the brilliance that is “Cooking Light?” I’m a fan. Tons of great recipes that help limit the calories and fat, but never skimp on the flavor.

Always winners, in my book. The Cooking Light version of Mac ‘N Cheese even passed the test of a skeptical man who thought he was going to turn up his nose and make a box of the neon orange Kraft stuff instead.

So here’s the link for “Cooking Light’s 12 Healthy Habits,” which seems like a take on a New Year’s resolution to make 2013 a super healthy year.

One key point Cooking Light makes is that “a healthier lifestyle begins one little habit at a time.” So true.

Cooking Light suggests focusing on one healthy practice every month this year. You can also sign up for a newsletter and join conversations on their message boards or Facebook.

And this aren’t drastic changes. January, for example, asks you to eat more fruits and vegetables. That’s good for everyone, right? And it’s not that difficult, either. The possibilities are endless. Try adding a salad before dinner. When you eat out, get steamed veggies instead of fries. Hungry in the afternoon? Try an apple, strawberries or a banana. Add some peanut butter or almond butter to those for extra flavor and protein.
